The Bhaubeej volunteers help the cause of Women Empowerment Through Education. 20th December is the Memorial Day of Late Mr. G.M.Chipalunkar who proposed and initiated the innovative Bhaubeej Fundraising scheme in 1919. This year, MKSSS gave scholarships to over 5200 girls under this scheme. Since its inception thousands of the girls have received help for their education. This year, on 20th December 2019, ‘Bhaubeej’ completed its 100th year.
Maharshi Karve Stree shikshan Samstha‘s Bhaubeej Volunteers are felicitated every year in the Bhaubeej Nidhi Samarpan Sohala on 20th December.
Bhaubeej Volunteer from Mumbai, Manishatai Koparkar was felicitated in the program as she has gathered the highest Bhaubeej donation. She spoke about the need of reaching out to the people. She stated that people wish to donate for the cause of the women’s education and ultimately women empowerment. They identify with the cause undertaken by Maharshi Karve and carried forward by Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha. She also spoke about the need of engaging the young people with this cause by encouraging them to work as Bhaubeej Volunteer. Prizes were also given to students and residents of Samstha’s old age home who gathered the highest amount of fund.
